Product Description

An easy way to cook bacon without frying it in its own grease! Simply drape the uncooked bacon over the rim of the mug, cover with a paper towel, microwave for 4 minutes, and "wah-lah" - crispy, evenly-cooked bacon! Best of all, you simply pour the grease out of the reservoir (a hole in the interior mug drains to the reservoir). Because the mug is handcrafted from ceramic stoneware (no plastic), it is safe for food, microwave, oven, and dishwasher. Each bacon cooker mug is hand-thrown on the pottery wheel with sculpted accents in the mountains of North Carolina. Choose from Butternut or French Blue. Due to the handcrafted nature, slight differences in size and color should be expected.

Really like this bacon cooker. We are from the Appalachian Mountains and this reminds us of the simplicity of home. The mug gets extremely hot in order to cook the bacon; however, all microwave bacon cookers get hot. Just use a dry dish rag or oven mit to remove it from the microwave. I know this has made bacon a more healthy option because of less grease. Also, if you cook with bacon grease (corn bread, etc.) the grease can be easily poured off for storage; no more pouring from hot skillets or plastic bacon cookers. The port around the grease reservoir (non-removable saucer part) located under the handle is difficult to clean; however, hot water with a little dish soap gets it clean. We usually let the mug sit for a minute after emptying the grease reservoir and then clean it completely. Several other pottery craftsmen sell a bacon cooker of this style. This was the largest pottery type cooker we found after scanning through various sites. The cooker is expensive and my wife was not happy with the price. Yet, after seeing that she did not have to clean the gas stove due to bacon grease splatter every time I cooked breakfast she is elated. Since it is hand made pottery it looks great sitting in our kitchen cabinets as well.As with any pottery extra precautions need to be taken not to bump it against something in the sink. This beauty gets washed before anything else and put back immediately. You won't regret buying it once you own one.Wish there was a matching grease keeper. This is a cup shaped bacon cooker. I use it every morning. The bacon is crisp and all the grease is collected in the saucer. Love it!We bought this bacon mug in 2018, and now are looking to buy a second one for our cottage. We use it several times a week (I know, it's one of our few food vices!), and it's still in excellent shape. Best for up to 6 slices at a time. I like it because it keeps the bacon out of the grease (it pools up in the base at the bottom), and you can control the crispness with the amount of time you cook it in the microwave. We like it crisp, so longer. Tip: it crisps up more after you take it out and let it sit briefly. Cleanup is not as hard as other cooking methods - you can pour the grease into a can or whatever, or let it solidify and then scoop it out with a paper towel before washing. We do set it on a paper towel with another one over the top to keep it from splattering in the microwave. Another benefit is that it's beautiful (we have blue) and we set it out on an open shelf for decoration between uses! This bacon mug is great! I was skeptical until I read the reviews..this item gets wonderful reviews. Bought it as a gift for my husband who is a bacon lover. Tried it today. He cut the bacon slices in half and nuked the 6 halves for 4 minutes with a paper towel over the top. Perfect and crispy! It is the fastest easiest no mess way to cook bacon. Also the mug itself is beautiful workmanship. Worth every penny! Made in USA..yay!I tried my Hand-Sculpted Stoneware Microwave Bacon Cooker Mug for the first time this morning and I was absolutely AMAZED!!! (I used center cut bacon - normal thickness.) When I first purchased it, I had reservations if it would actually work the way it is described. You just drape the bacon over the sides of the mug and lay a paper towel over the top so you don't have bacon grease splattering in your microwave. I used 4 slices and it is recommended to cook one minute for each slice (so I cooked it for 4 minutes). The bacon was absolutely perfect. Nice and cooked and crisp. I have had bacon before where there are parts of it that are so fatty, I don't even want to eat it. This was amazing!!! The clean-up was so easy. Another benefit is that is it very pretty mug. I purchased the French Blue one. I am very happy with it and would highly recommend it to others. What an easy way to cook a small serving of bacon. I am very happy with my cooker mug.The microwave bacon mug works excellent for quick, small batches of bacon. Recipes that call for 5-6 slices of bacon cooked and chopped that I used to avoid just because of the bacon cooking are a breeze with this. And with tomato season being here, quick and easy BLT sandwiches have been on the menu a lot lately. Whipping up two or three strips for a lunch sandwich is a snap, and then can re-use at dinner for a recipe if needed and toss in the microwave to be ready to go the next day. The nice stonework is nicely decorative in the kitchen when not in use as well. Wishing I would have found this much sooner!!!! If I had to find one complaint, I wish the spout was on the other side. May be a personal right vs left handed thing, but just feels like I'm pouring backward when I empty the grease.
