Bought this as an affordable get-me-through-the-road-trip option. Wasn't too difficult to figure out with the provided instructions and honestly the instructions weren't specific enough about the mounting clamps for when you don't have a trail rail system. I had to try several different angles and bracket position combinations until I found what seemed to be road-safe and secure enough to trust, which wasn't exactly described in the instructions.I took my time, no rush, and spent about 6 hours in the afternoon installing it one Saturday (I had to make several stops for unrelated issues). It is not watertight by any means. There WILL be water to drip in at the tailgate sides, and will trickle up the side of the bed in the corner. Keep your water-damageable things off of the trough in the corners and you'll probably be fine.Removed one star because of a combination of unclear instructions and one of the latch screw nuts coming completely off by itself (see photos). This is a "universal fit" product that is intended for a few different models of midsize light pickup truck. I don't recall, I think it was the Nissan Frontier, Jeep Gladiator, and one other model it fits. See photos for installed product on a Gladiator after about six to eight weeks' use. Foam rubber padding conforms to the contours of the bedside top trim. For the price, I'm well pleased. It's basic, easily removable if need be, nothing so fancy as to be rarely needed or used. It serves the purpose quite well! Best of all, no gaudy branding visible ANYWHERE! Totally generic, which I LOVE! You know what, that earns a star back. 5 stars!UPDATE 2025-02-23This cover has served its initial purpose perfectly well. While it's not watertight, it does rarely actually let any water in, and even then I'm not sure that's the tonneau's fault: It might just be the design of the Jeep tailgate. I don't notice water infiltration every time it rains. But again, it's only in the outer corners, at the edge of the tailgate, and it streams along that outer trough in the bed, so keeping water-damageable items away from those side troughs is about all you need to do.I'm adding photos from the last time I washed the truck to show how the material has worn in a year. In a phrase: Not much. It's a little faded-looking when dry, and so I always apply an interior/exterior "protectorant" (not a word in my opinion, but that's what's on the label) every time I wash it. You can see the before-and-after in the pics. Without the protection, it does look a little faded, and you can clearly see the underlying support beams. With the protection, it looks like new.I DO have one recurring problem with it. The latches are held in place on the crossbeams by very small screws and nuts. These work themselves loose over time and if you don't keep on them they'll pop apart. Fortunately, both times it's happened to me, the bed was empty and I was able to find the nut easily. However, there should be a second nut to lock the first one in place, or some kind of thread locker used. I would prefer cotter pins, myself, but the screws are too small a diameter for that treatment. Also, the latches aren't machined the same or installed on the crossbeam the same, or something. One side won't tuck into its slot in the crossbeam when I fold it up, unless I loosen the latch considerably. In order to latch it down to the bed like I have it 99% of the time, I have to tighten it at least ten or fifteen rotations which is annoying (but tolerable). Finally, somehow, somewhere, I set something on top of the cover and scratched it. I did this twice, in different spots. I've included photos of the "scars" that were left behind. This is not a negative of the product (it was my own carelessness that caused it), rather a positive, that even though I've managed to damage it, it took it well and still keeps the rain out.For the just shy of two hundred I spent, maybe I could have had the same identical product for less, but you never know. I do know that having taken the chance on this one, it has returned on the investment. I've gotten a full year out of it and given how it's taken that, I expect to get at least another year or three. I only needed it for a road trip in April to see the Eclipse in 2024; Since then I've taken it to north Georgia's frigid winter air twice, and even in freezing temperatures it maintains a good amount of flexibility without cracking or peeling.I'm well pleased with this purchase.
