The sports cover is made of spandex with a piece of thin neoprene sewn inside the front portion of the cover with a cut-out for the knee and elastic at the top and bottom.The edges of the hinges aren't covered by the neoprene at the kneecap and will quickly wear holes into the outer spandex cover. My son's started to tear through after 2 wrestling practices (about an hour of live wrestling.) The inner stitching for the elastic hem also opened up during the first week of use. The cover states that it is a "sports" cover but don't expect to have it last with any sports use.There is essentially no padding to this cover but it will pass high school wrestling requirements with *most* but not all referees if there is a 1/2" minimum padding requirement.You can make this with minimal sewing experience and about 15-20 dollars.
