I have had a Jeanie Rub massager for 24 years and it held up all that time. My mom had hers for 23 years and it finally broke. I think mine is getting ready to give out so I bought a new one because I love it and do not want to live without it. The new one has variable speed and has more power options. The new one is also quieter. I have foot issues and could barely walk and the only shoes I can wear are my crocs and this massager has been miraculous in improving my feet. Yes, when you first start using it it has a smell of oil or grease that is used on its internal parts but that goes away and what do you expect for something built to last it had to be made this way! Also it makes your hands get numb easily at first when using it, but this goes away after several sessions of using the massager. Your hands become immune to the tingle and numbness. The itchy feeling goes away also, this is just from the increased blood flow that your skin is not used to. Also when my son came to me and said something is wrong with his hand and it's been numb and tingly for weeks I said "let me massage your arm multiple times during the day and see what happens" . It is a well made sturdy and awesomely useful product and I LOVE IT! No one should be without one and don't be a whiner and say you cant use it on yourself, I can reach almost any part of my back with it if I position it right on the bed and use a pillow to keep it from sliding off the bed! Use it often and generously on any aching body part and it will be the best thing you could do for your body and circulation!
